All of the Educator Essentials are authored by Dr. Cindy Golden. All of the items are customized and specifically designed for educators and parents who work with students who have special needs. They fill a need – to make it easier for teachers and parents to educate children with special needs.
Dr. Golden is a school psychologist and the principal of an educational and therapeutic program serving students with severe emotional and behavioral needs and autism. In the past, she has served as a special education supervisor in metro Atlanta school system, supervising the county-wide Autism and Emotional/ Behavioral Disorders programs.
During her 30 years in special education, Dr. Golden spent 13 years in the classroom where she was twice elected Teacher of the Year. She has worked as a psychologist in a large metro Atlanta school system and in a special center that served students with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Golden has an undergraduate degree in Special Education from the University of West Florida; Masters and Educational Specialist degrees in School Psychology from Georgia State University; a certificate in Educational Leadership, and an Educational Specialist degree from Kennesaw State University. Dr. Golden graduated with a doctorate from Kennesaw State University in Inclusive Education with a focus in Autism.
Cindy is also a published author and most recently published The Special Educator’s Toolkit: Everything you need to Organize, Manage, and Monitor your classroom (Brookes Publishing, January 2012). Dr. Golden has several articles published in online magazines and websites. Dr. Golden is also the author of the educational chapter of a new textbook on Autism by Sage publishing entitled, Understanding Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Dr. Golden is the editor of the online magazine, Special Needs Resource Magazine (www.snrmag.com), specializing in providing resources to educators and parents of children with special needs. She is a popular speaker at local, state, regional, national and international conferences along with providing training in several topics, including The Special Educator’s Toolkit, to school districts and groups of educators. She most recently completed a two-day training with Dr. Paula Kluth on organizing and creating model special education classrooms.
